Your donation can have a lasting impact on the upkeep, beauty and preservation of Straus Park. In addition to supporting Friends of Straus Park’s efforts everyday, it helps make some infrastructure improvements possible – like renovated benches and rat-proof garbage cans.

As we look to 2025, we hope to refresh the paint on the park’s metal fencing where rust is appearing. We also want to put an added coat of Tung oil on all benches. And, we are researching plans to install an automatic irrigation system that will reach all park areas and help against drought.

Every time I walk into Straus Park, and see the beautiful flowers and trees, my spirits lift. Everything always looks clean and well cared for. When I see how hard the volunteers work to keep the park lovely, I figure that making a donation towards its upkeep is the least I can do.

I see Straus Park as an essential part of our neighborhood that must remain and be well maintained. I have donated to Friends of Straus Park, and was able to fund holiday lights that make the park more enjoyable in Winter.

I love Straus Park, its history, its atmosphere and the people I meet there. I contribute to help it remain the wonderful place it is. I hope others will too.

Volunteer!

Community volunteers help make Straus Park the vibrant and rich experience it is today. From working with the park horticulturist to select and plant seasonal flowers, to assisting in renovating the parks benches and fencing, to helping maintain the cleanliness of the park – and so much more.

I live across the street and visit often. I like to help and I see my work make a difference in Straus Park.

Helping to renovate the park’s benches all summer was hard work, but, also felt great to see the benches looking so new. And being with the team of volunteers was fun.

I often go to Straus Park. It’s a lovely place to relax and meet friends. And while it’s work to volunteer, I get to meet people that live near by. That’s what makes a neighborhood special.

I have enjoyed Straus Park for a long time – it’s my little back yard and garden. I wanted to join the volunteers who sustain the park and make sure it stays a place we want to use.
